Role Overview

The Memphis Sales Officer is a senior field sales leader responsible for driving growth, advisor productivity, and market expansion across New York Life’s core product portfolio, including Life Insurance, Annuities, Long-Term Care (LTC), Individual Disability Insurance (IDI), and Worksite solutions. This role partners closely with General Office leadership to execute strategic business objectives, develop high-performing advisors, and deliver exceptional client outcomes.

The successful candidate will combine strong sales leadership, coaching, and business development capabilities to accelerate advisor production, strengthen market presence, and achieve sustainable growth. This role is accountable for sales performance and plays a critical role in translating business strategy into measurable field results.

What You'll Do

  • Drive sales growth and achieve assigned production goals across multiple product lines by increasing advisor productivity, client acquisition, and market penetration.
  • Execute the General Office sales strategy by translating enterprise priorities into actionable plans, disciplined field activity, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Partner with advisors through joint work, client meetings, and case consultation to advance opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and help close business.
  • Recruit, develop, and coach a high-performing advisor population by providing ongoing training, performance feedback, and development opportunities that support long-term success.
  • Monitor sales activity, pipeline health, and productivity metrics to identify trends, address performance gaps, and implement actions that improve business results.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client focus while reinforcing production standards and performance expectations across the advisor population.
  • Partner with General Office and Home Office leaders to execute growth initiatives, enhance market competitiveness, and support strategic business priorities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in financial services, insurance sales, wealth management, or a related industry, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success achieving and exceeding sales goals through team leadership, coaching, and business development.
  • Active FINRA registrations and insurance licenses, or the ability to obtain required licenses within established timeframes.
  • Strong coaching, talent development, and performance management skills with the ability to improve advisor productivity and business results.
  • Proven ability to analyze performance metrics, manage sales pipelines, and implement strategies that drive growth.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across field and corporate partners.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience leading sales efforts across Life Insurance, Annuities, Long-Term Care, Individual Disability Insurance, and Worksite solutions.
  • Prior experience in a production-based or sales incentive leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success conducting joint work, business development activities, and client-facing sales leadership.
  • Familiarity with New York Life sales processes, advisor development programs, and field operating models.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:

Overtime eligible:  Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: No 

Sales bonus eligible: Yes 

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.

 

Please note : This role requires FINRA licensed and/or FINRA Associated Person pre-hire fingerprinting.
